Whittyboy is back with a dope EP
Originally hailing from Leeds, Bingo Bass welcome the currently London-based Wittyboy with a double A-side label debut to blow the winter cobwebs away.
With a background in grime, he gained respect as an MC, featuring on BBC 1Xtra and receiving air play from Mary Anne Hobbs amongst other radio DJ's, before turning his hand to production, remixing for names including Roll Deep, Craig David and Estelle, and receiving support from key figures in the scene such as DJ EZ, DJ Q, Jamie Duggan, Shaun Banger Scott, FB & Zibba and more, which quickly led to him becoming one of the key players in the bassline scene, with regular appearances up and down the country alongside features on compilations and mixes by the Ministry of Sound, Pure Garage, Fabriclive & Pure Bassline.
‘Working With’ and ‘Burning’ are two perfect examples of the uniquely developed sound that Wittyboy has developed over his long and illustrious career, with recent releases through Crucast and Chip Butty Records demonstrating his continued popularity and relevance within the bass music scene in 2018. A truly exciting addition to the label – gunfingers at the ready!
Another One By Defected
Oh Defected have another banger? How many times have you asked this question to yourself or to a friend... in 2018 alone??? Cos for us, we have asked this a few times already this year and as usual, the answer is YES, yes they do have another banger.
The latest banger to come from the lovable Defected Records is ‘In Arms’. A dancefloor smash which really just has the sole purpose of getting you onto the dance floor and shaking what your mama gave you and more. This super sick track is courtesy of Dutch Producer Ferreck Dawn & German representative, Robosonic. These guys have decided to go head on with each other and produce and absolute banger which makes it to your play lists all day long.
Apparently during the Defected Australia tour, many fan favourites on the tour were giving this one a bit of a play during sets and it popped off down under. So we think you should be paying close attention to this.
Shuffling & Singing
Looking for a one way ticket to Singalong Avenue and shuffle street? Then we suggest you get your best shuffler shoes on and hop on board as Loud Luxury have released an absolute banger in Sex Like Me
The vocals hit you straight away as the song starts and they are soulful and smooth, gliding over the beat for the entire song effortlessly without overpowering or being drowned out by the instruments. The lyrics are a bit saucy and sexual with the base of the track being “she can’t sex like me” but we are sure these cheeky lyrics will only have you hitting high notes faster than you normally would.
The beat has a nice blend of Dance and EDM elements but at the same time is radiating a bit of soulfulness which means it’s catering to as much ears as possible, something not all tracks can do. We need to be able to appreciate how dope this track is as we are sure this one will be all over the festivals and clubs over the summer.
This remix is sounding super sick
As we always say, a remix has to be as good as the original OR BETTER. And this one right here will have you understanding our love dope remixes.
Alaia & Gallo do what they do best and that’s totally bring you to life with the energy they deliver on a track the touch. This track is a perfect way to introduce yourself to the dance floor and show everyone your shuffling skills. The way this track comes out to you, you will have no choice but to obey what it wants from you and this is to share your moves and help the DJ in bringing down the house.
The vocals of course are nice and clear on the beat, therefore giving you every but of opportunity to join the crew we love so much (singalong!). Each instrument on this beat is layered perfectly, not overpowering anyone other or the vocals. A dope track that deserves your attention.
Smooth Vibe coming with this one
Following ‘Darker Shade of Green’, which starred his inimitable baritone, Charles’ new track is a lyrically introspective, yet tonally sultry, affair. ‘The minimalist production, comprised of a shuffling beat, guitar licks reminiscent of Jai Paul, and an atmospheric and ethereal synth line, is supplied by up and coming producer Mathias Boman.
It’s reminiscent of Prince in his prime, and perfectly compliments the quiet power Charles generates through his gorgeously restrained falsetto. Between ‘Relax My Mind’ and ‘Darker Shade of Green’ we really get to experience the breathtaking range of Charles’ voice, and it’s undeniable that he’s destined for great success.

The Magician pulls one out of the hat again!
The Magician has unveiled his latest track, an ode to everlasting love featuring the French language vocals of Belgian rapper Hamza.
The new single, is a lilting, summery slice of dancehall-tinged RnB featuring steel drums and a soft, bouncing bassline; a natural stylistic continuation of the sounds of ‘Las Vegas’, The Magician’s most recent creative output. The track marked a slight change in musical direction for the Belgian producer, previously known for his bombastic pop hits with the likes of Lykke Li and Years & Years.
“I’ve been working in a lot of different studios, exploring different genres of music with some incredible people,” said The Magician. “The result of which has reignited my passion to make music, and inspired me to share more love and emotions through it.”
Part future-facing RnB, part classic French rap, Hamza hails from The Magician’s native Belgium. He’s been steadily increasing in popularity in the French music scene, with shows at Palais de Tokyo’s events space YoYo and a solo show at L’Olympia in Paris coming up. Speaking about his music, Pitchfork said “Hamza makes instantly memorable music that transcends language and communicates feeling.”
Having first experienced mainstream success with his European no.1 remix of Lykke Li’s ‘I Follow Rivers’ in 2012, The Magician’s 2013 track ‘Sunlight’ featuring the vocals of Olly Alexander from Years& Years, peaked at #7 in both the Belgian and UK charts, garnering over 55 million combined streams in the process. With Top 10 hit status achieved, The Magician has spent time cultivating his own live events and record label aptly named ‘POTION’ where new singles ‘Together’ and ‘Shy’ quickly followed, before his 2017 releases ‘Tied Up’ with Julian Perretta, and ‘Slow Motion’ with TCTS.
The Belgian DJ has played at a diverse range of clubs including Pacha, Space, Hï, Ushuaia and Amnesia in Ibiza. Since launching Potion, he’s brought the event series to Ministry of Sound,Showcase Paris, Exchange LA, Electric Brixton, New York’s Webster Hall and last year, hosted his very own Potion stage at Tomorrowland. The release of ‘Love Break’ follows a busy Miami Music Week for The Magician; he hosted a Potion showcase as well as playing at Klingande’s pool party.
Following the critical success of her previous release “Surrender With Strength”, emerging singer/songwriter Giovanna follows up her series of extraordinary takes on the ever-ordinary world with her new remix package of her upcoming single “Can’t Go Back”, a sonic expression of feeling nostalgic on past memories.
Bringing in the likes of OC & Verde and Hubie Davison on this new remix package, it’s a considerable tastemaker canvas for Giovanna to paint her vibrant and unique style. Working on her debut album with Liam Howe (Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs, Ellie Goulding) and Goetz Boetzenhardt (Faithless, Ella Eyre, Cinematic Orchestra) in London, Giovanna’s creative approach to releases and the talent she continually surrounds herself with can’t help but build the hype around her as a true one to watch for 2018.
Now OC & Verde, building on their breakthrough year being listed by BBC R1’s Pete Tong as Artist to Watch and their anticipated “Maasai” EP, hitting the Beatport #1 spot and holding it for 3 weeks – deliver another cutting edge gorgeous rework.
Hubie Davison likewise synthesize the emotive melodies of artists like Four Tet and Caribou with the bare grooviness of Nicolas Jaar - incorporating spectral vocals into a sophisticated blueprint. Across a handful of releases for Berlin's Leisure System, Midland's ReGraded (on 2015's breakout 'Sanctified'), and 2020 Vision's Needs Not For Profit, the hyper tastemakers consolidate this with DJ sets for the likes of Panorama Bar, Corsica Studios, and Gaité Lyrique in Paris.
