Rising star Aylo unveils highly anticipated ‘DNT’ DLT’
Coming on the back of the success of the project’s last two singles ‘Paris’ and ‘Sassy’, which have seen him garner strong support from The FADER, Beats 1, Complex, BBC 1Xtra, TMRW Magazine, Flaunt Magazine, Revolt TV, Earmilk, and Respect Magazine, among others, exciting genre fluid artist-producer, and alté rising star AYLØ is excited to release his exciting 10-track mixtape titled DNT’ DLT.
Distributed via Apple’s Platoon, AYLØ’s DNT’ DLT mixtape is the long-awaited and highly anticipated follow up to his critically acclaimed 2017 mixtape Insert Project Name and his 2016 Honest Conversations EP before that. Both records have garnered over a million streams on Spotify and Soundcloud alone, while birthing fan-favourite cult classics such as ‘Island Girl’, ‘Gardens’ and ‘LITT’, along the way.
While the alté sound is fast gaining global traction and attention, with the likes of Pitchfork, i-D Magazine and Hypebeast, among the international tastemakers shining light on the music in recent months, AYLØ, as one of the seminal creatives pioneering this innovative fusion sound, is even more keen on highlighting the alté movement and community, rather than just the sound, which is why he brings fellow alté forerunners Fasina, PsychoYP, MOJO, Sugarbana, and Cheso, along for the ride, throughout DNT’ DLT.
From the smooth piano driven opening track ‘I Listen To You’ about polygamy, and his flawless ode to femininity and womanhood on ‘Sassy’, to the drums-heavy experimental ‘Xozhu’, and the political ‘City On Lights’, to the poignant life-affirming mixtape closer ‘Alive & Breathing’, AYLØ has created a timeless and expansive body of work with DNT’ DLT, which makes for a gripping and captivating listen from start to finish, but is also sure to settle as one of the best projects of 2019, when it’s all said and done.
Speaking about the inspiration for his DNT’ DLT mixtape, AYLØ says, “The mixtape is about believing in yourself and your ideas. It’s about maintaining confidence through it all you know. Like how the closest people to you sometimes are the ones that either don’t believe at all or they catch on late… after you’ve already been struggling, having to hear all the condescending shit that might be said about you and your career decisions.
Still it’s your life and your existence, so no one can tell you who you are unless you tell yourself that as well. It only becomes real when you make it real. So whatever it is… dnt dlt. Fight the depression. Know you’re not alone… and don’t delete. Don’t kill yourself, don’t delete yourself, you are abundant. Stay Alive. Please. Love”.
